The induction charging that Palm implemented in their phones is pretty awesome. But what about those of us who overclock our Pres and can't get by with the tiny battery that comes stock?
I've been using the Seidio Extended battery and always wanted to be able to use the Touchstone with it. So this is how I did it (sorry about the shaky camera work!):
Remove the magnets and coil from a Touchstone compatible Pre battery door. To put it into mine, I just used a dab of superglue for each of the magnets and then used electrical tape for the coil (high class, I know!).
Then solder two wires onto the bare connectors.
Then solder the other side of the wires to the connectors on the back of the Pre.
And that's it! It's a pretty fast mod, but super ghetto/dirty. There are better ways to do this, and some people have a business doing it. But if you want something simple that works, it doesn't get any easier than this.
Adding Touchstone support to an extended battery
